Position Summary
The Head of Boarding and Enrichment plays a pivotal leadership role in fostering a safe, engaging, and developmentally enriching environment for students outside of the classroom. This position oversees the operational and strategic direction of both the boarding house and the school’s enrichment portfolio, including co-curricular activities (CCAs), elite sports, and competitions. The post-holder will lead these areas to ensure that they reflect the school’s educational ethos and contribute meaningfully to student development, wellbeing, and retention.

Key Responsibilities
1. Boarding House Leadership and Management
-Ensure the smooth daily operation of the boarding house, maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive environment for all boarders.
-Develop systems that promote student welfare, positive behaviour, and emotional resilience, aligned with the school’s pastoral care framework.
-Supervise and mentor boarding staff, ensuring their ongoing professional development and adherence to safeguarding and regulatory standards.
-Act as the primary liaison for boarding parents, providing regular updates, resolving concerns, and fostering trust and transparency.
-Ensure compliance with relevant school policies, Chinese regulatory guidelines, and international safeguarding standards.
2. Enrichment Programme Oversight
-Provide strategic leadership for all enrichment programmes, including the coordination of CCAs, elite sports, and academic or artistic competitions.
-Collaborate with teaching staff and external providers to design inclusive and high-impact enrichment offerings that extend students’ skills, interests, and aspirations.
-Supervise the promotion, enrolment, and evaluation of CCAs to ensure breadth, balance, and alignment with whole-school priorities.
-Oversee the elite sports programme, supporting student-athletes and coordinating training schedules, competition entries, and talent pathways.
-Track student participation and performance data across enrichment domains and report regularly to the school leadership team.
- Coordinate practical sessions, masterclasses, and music academy activities to complement academic learning and personal development.
3.Team Leadership and Development
-Line-manage the enrichment and boarding teams, fostering a culture of accountability, care, and high expectations.
-Chair regular meetings with activity leaders, boarding staff, and coaches to ensure coordinated planning and communication.
-Contribute to the strategic planning and evaluation of the school’s enrichment and boarding provision.
4. Budget and Resource Management
-Manage the operational budgets for boarding, CCAs, elite sports, and competitions, ensuring financial efficiency and transparency.
-Allocate staffing, facilities, and materials in a manner that supports programme quality and equitable access.
5. Community and Stakeholder Engagement
-Build strong, trust-based relationships with students and families to promote engagement in boarding life and enrichment opportunities.
-Establish and maintain partnerships with external organisations, sports federations, and cultural institutions to expand the school’s enrichment offer.
-Represent the school at relevant events, meetings, and external forums where boarding and enrichment best practice is shared or developed.
Candidate Profile
-Bilingual proficiency in Chinese and English
-Demonstrated experience in leading a boarding facility and/or managing enrichment or student life programmes
- Familiarity with extended learning models, such as tutoring, university admissions counselling, or study skills development (preferred)
-Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and a pastoral mindset
-Ability to manage teams, budgets, and systems with professionalism and efficiency
-Familiarity with safeguarding standards in international or bilingual school contexts is highly desirable
